Their Beloved Chapel

“Khaki & Blue”
“Orkney’s Italian Chapel”
Camp 60 housed several hundreds of Italian Prisoners
captured in the North African Campaign in 13 or more
“cheerless” huts.
These active Italians made concrete paths…flower beds…
a theatre with scenery…a recreation hall with a
CONCRETE BILLIARD TABLE.
One thing the camp lacked was a CHAPEL…in 1943, two
Nissen huts were made available. Prisoner and artist, Chiocehetti, set
to work with other craftsmen and buckets of labour of love
to build there Chapel which stands today.
In 1992, surviving Prisoners of War returned with their
families to THEIR BELOVED CHAPEL.

Where are the role models?….

We have all heard the sayings about hindsight…

WHY IS IT, WE GET UP TIGHT WHEN TRAGEDY STRIKES…SUDDENLY WANT ACTION?

WHEN A FEW MOMENTS EARLIER, FANS etc, the
PARENTS ARE SCREAMING…HIT HIM…SPEAR HIM…
INCLUDING A MOTHER SAYING “kill him”
WHY IS IT, in sports, we can assault VERBALLY ;
PHYSICALLY to the point of killing…maiming for life…
WITH NO LEGAL ACTION…having violated OUR LAWS…
HAS KILLING/MAIMING BEEN LEGALIZED?
HAVE WE RETURNED TO THE OLD DAYS when killing was a sport?

I am an 85 year old WW II Veteran who taught HOW TO KILL…
I also taught ALL SPORTS, coaching ; officiating as a member of The Canadian Army Physical; Recreational Training Cadre…. Sep 2008 I celebrated 71 years of working with children…
